أَعُوذُ بِٱللَّهِ مِنَ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِ ٱلرَّجِيمِ، بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
For some people, I have read that they lose themselves when they truly find Allah. This I find somewhat puzzling. For me, it has always been that the closer I get to Allah, the more I become my truest self. I recall this ayah:
Thus, remembering Allah is how to recall one's true self, and in doing so, approach the aim of human creation: submission to their Creator. May He make this something we always take to heart, ameen.
Addendum: There appears to be a point at which one's need overwhelms the self, all barriers cease to exist, and everything pours forth to Allah as a dam unleashed. I still would not call this "losing one's self" when finding Him, but the truth of the matter is that there are definitely degrees of submission and understanding. Even as one might reach the purest version/aspects of his/her own fitrah or inner nature, it is true that the fitrah is simply an arrow pointing us to Allah. Once we seek Him, and find Him, then I could not conceive of how beautiful and amazing each step of the way up might be.
