Of Life and Men

 أَعُوذُ بِٱللَّهِ مِنَ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِ ٱلرَّجِيمِ، بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

Of everything people face in life, of all the scenarios and possibilities that might come to pass, there is only one that should instill fear: losing touch with Allah. Everything aside from Him fades, everything other than Him will turn to dust. Placing too much emphasis on people, on personal needs/wants, this is something I fall into way too often for my liking, and the constant unsettled feeling that accompanies such states is a fairly telling reminder of priorities that need refocusing.

What is a reason for staying in touch with Him? This is as unique to a person as their own DNA. Such reasons can be trifling or vast, poetic or mundane, but they exist for all people. The key is to find such a reason, and ingrain it into one's soul so that it is never forgotten, never let go of. The lasting happiness won't be found in dunya, we can't truly be settled here, there is just one such place where that feeling can be embraced: once we have crossed the Siraat, once that hurdle is cleared, that is when breath can be taken, relief known like no other. Until then, this life and the choices we make are but pieces of a bridge reaching to that point, each a stone and peg, slowly laying the foundation for where we find ourselves in Tomorrow.
